Diwali Sweet recipes prepared in North India

One can’t imagine the festival of lights Diwali without delicious recipes, and crackers. It is festival celebrated with varieties of mouth watering sweets. So women in India starts preparation of Diwali traditional recipes days before the festival as there is custom of sharing the sweets with the friends and neighbors. 1. Badam Phirni Recipe

Ingredients required:

Almonds  – 1 cup
Rice flour – 4 tsp
Milk         – 3 cups
Sugar      – 1 cup
Saffron    – ½ tsp
Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
Pista        – 4 tsp

Badam Phirni Preparation:

Take 1 cup of Almonds, blanch and grind them to fine paste with 1 cup of milk. Then mix the almond paste and rice flour together and keep aside. In a bowl add milk and bring it to boil then add sugar and stir until sugar dissolves in milk.

Now add few saffron strands in 1 tsp of hot milk and keep aside. Then add the almond-rice mixture into the boiling milk along with the saffron and stir continuously until the milk gets thickened till attains the consistency like custard then add 1tsp of cardamom powder and put off the flame.

Set the Badam Phirni recipe to cool in a room temperature, then garnish with almonds and pistachios after pouring into individual bowls and refrigerate. Serve it chill.
