Daman and Diu Information and Tourist Places
Daman and Diu is the second smallest union territory in India. They are two different parts, enclosed between sea on one side and Gujarat on the other. The main occupation for the people of Daman and Diu is fishing. The service sector mainly comprises of Real estate, Tourism and Insurance. Gujarati and Marathi are the official and main languages. The use of Portuguese goes on declining because it is no longer official nor taught at school, though a number of elder people can still understand it, some even preferring it for discourse at home.

Accommodation:

Daman and Diu tourism offer excellent accommodation facilities.

Number of the cheap hotels are located on Seaface Road in Daman. There are many decent places to stay at the beach sites. There are a good number of hotels in Daman and Diu. The hotels are moderately priced and offer decent accommodation. Some hotels have the privilege of being located close to the beach, while others are in the city. The local government runs a number of Tourist Bungalows, Guest Houses and hotels in Daman and Diu.

Famous temples and Tourist places:

Gangeshwar Temple: The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva houses five lingas in the midst of the rocks on the seashore.

Nagoa Beach: Nagoa is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in India. Just twenty minutes refreshing drive from Diu will bring you to Nagoa Beach which with a stretch of about 2 Km from one end to another is exceptionally beautiful .The unique shoe-shape of the beach makes it more beautiful.

Devka & Jampore
Beach: Devka is a beautiful and unspoilt beach with a long shore-line situated in the northern part of Daman. There is also a popular amusement park on the beach with multi-coloured fountains. Situated in the southern part of Daman near the Gujarat border.

Moti Daman Fort: The huge fort dates back to 16th century. A large number of Portuguese gentry used to reside within the confine of the Fort with their families.

Nani Daman: It has an ancient church, a fort and a fishing dock. The lighthouse offers that mystic charm to its lovely beach.

Damanganga Tourist Complex:
An artificially built complex self-contained with Cafeteria, Cottages, Conference Hall, Health Club etc is sure to enchant you with its beauty, facilities and size.

Fort of Diu:
Among the tourist attractions in Daman and Diu, the Diu Fort acquires a prominent position. Skirted by the sea on the three sides, the imposing structure dominates the townscape and offers a magnificent view of the sea.

Shopping:

Daman and Diu is not a typical shopping destination, still shopping in Daman and Diu can be a cool experience. Daman is particularly noted for Customs Shops selling seized foreign goods in attractive prices. Maharaja Super Market, Princess Park at Devka Beach are renowned shopping areas, which offer good shopping in Daman and Diu.
