Navdurga & Offerings during Navratri

During Navratri Different forms of Durga or Shakti are worshipped. And different types of Naivedyam are offered.

Day 1 – Shailaputri

On the first day of Navaratri Goddess Shailaputri is worshipped. Shailaputri is the daughter of mountains – absolute form of mother nature.

Tithi – Pratipada

Flowers – Shoe Flower or Hibiscus

Naivedhyam – Pure Ghee

Colour – Yellow

Day 2 – Brahmacharini

On the second day of Navaratri Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped. The goddess is also known as Tapasyacharini.

Tithi – Dwitiya

Flowers – Chrysanthemum or Chemanthi

Naivedhyam – Sugar & Fruits

Colour – Green

Day 3 – Chandraghanta

On the third day of Navaratri Goddess Chandraghanta is worshipped. The goddess refers for Dharma and justice.

Day 4 – Kushmanda

On the fourth day of Navaratri Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped. It is believed that Kushmanda eliminates darkness with her smile.

Day 5 – Skandamata

On the fifth day of Navratri Goddess Skandamata is worshipped. The goddess has her son Karthikeya sitting in her lap

Day 6 – Katyayani

On the sixth day of Navaratri Goddess Katyayani is worshipped. She is the daughter of sage Katyayan.

Day 7 – Kalratri

On the seventh day of Navaratri Goddess Kalratri is worshipped. The goddess is believed to destroy demoniacal powers (evil).

Day 8 – Mahagauri

On the eight day of Navratri Goddess Mahagauri is worshipped. The goddess mitigate all the sins of devotees.

Day 9 – Siddhidatri

On the ninth day of Navratri Goddess Siddhidatri is worshipped. This form of goddess has several kinds of healing powers.

Naivedyam – Sesame seeds

Colour – Purple

On the Tenth day people celebrate Vijaya Dasami or Dusshera. They offer different types of Naivedyam and wear colourful dresses.
