Jog waterfalls:

Jog waterfall is the highest waterfall in India and is also one of the major tourist attraction in Karnataka. Jog waterfalls are situated at a distance of around 100 Km from the Shimoga city which comes down in four different tracks named as Raja, Roarer, Rocket and Rani  The Jog waterfalls is formed by Sharavati River. The best time to visit Jog Falls is during November to January months, just after the monsoons and before the start of winters. During the summer season, one can take a bath in the pool. However during the wet season the falls are covered with mist rising from the fall. After the onset of monsoon, the Jog Falls start showing its true colors.

Abbey waterfalls:

Abbey Falls are located in the mountains of the Western Ghats in Karnataka state are also known as Abbi Falls. During the monsoon season the water flow is very high and during the dry seasons the flow is considerably diminished. The Abbey waterfall is located between private coffee plantations with stocky coffee bushes and spice estates with trees entangled with pepper vines. The waterfalls appear suddenly, the water cascading over rocks into calm pools. From Abbey waterfalls the water flows into the Kaveri River. The best time to visit is early winter when the monsoons have brought plenty of water.

Iruppu waterfalls:

Iruppu falls are located beside the Nagarhole National Park, originating in the lofty Brahmagiri peaks. The Iruppu falls presents a majestic sight with water cascading down from a height of 170ft. These water falls become a part of the Lakshmana Teertha River in the plains. During the monsoons, the Iruppu falls swell with seasonal rainfall. It is believed that Iruppu falls possesses magical powers and they purge one of one’s sins since it is located near Rameshwara Temple.

Magod waterfalls:

Magod waterfalls in Karnataka is best known for its beauty with its unanimous height of a waterfall falling from a height of 200m (659 feet).  The waterfalls of Magod are formed by cascading River Bedti. The best time to visit the Magod waterfalls is during the months  October to January. The main feature of the fall is that it comes down in two stages. The quantity of water falling drastically differs according to season. During summers, the waterfall runs nearly dry.

Shivanasamudra Waterfalls:

Shivanasamudra waterfalls in the state of Karnataka are also referred to as Gaganachukki Falls and Bharachukki Falls which are the most roaring falls amidst the most silent surroundings. These two waterfalls together are called the Shivanasamudra Falls. The Shivanasamudra waterfalls are formed by cascading river Cauvery plunging from a height. The fog rising from these waterfalls makes the sight a amazing view. The best time to visit the Shivanasamudra fall is when the falls are swollen with water i.e. after the month of August.
