Festival sankranthi also called pongal,meaning of festival sankranthi is good movement. This festival takes place when sun moves from dakshanayana, to uttarayanam.thousands of people dip in places like Ganga sagar & praya and pray to lord sun. The Puranas say that on this festival sankranthi Sun visits the house of his son Shani, who is the swami of Makar Rashi. Festival vinayaka Chaturthi or the birthday of Ganesha (God of Wisdom and Prosperity) is celebrated in the month of august-September. Vinayaka chaturdi is also called as ganesh chaturdi.
